[June 16, 2005]    PhytoMyco Research Corporation Receives SBIR Phase II Grant From USDA

PhytoMyco Research Corporation (PMRC), a leader in natural product-based drug discovery and development, has been awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovative Research grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to develop analogs of its lead Anti-fungal compound PM3010 for the control of various plant diseases of global market significance. PMRC (www.phytomyco.net) plans to synthesize and optimize a series of anti-fungal agents that have been based on naturally derived PM3010, and to evaluate their efficacy in addressing rust diseases such as soybean rust, a serious problem that affects the agriculture industry on a global basis. PMRC just completed the Phase I portion of the USDA grant, in which they successfully characterized PM 3010.

PMRC is an emerging biopharmaceutical company that was founded on the science of its Natural Product Library (NPL). The core of the company has been and always will be its unique and proprietary NPL that consists of plant and microbial extracts, the majority of which are only available through PMRC. From that core, over the past six years the Company has grown and expanded its business and internal development pipeline to include pure compounds that are ready for preclinical development and nutraceuticals/dietary supplement. PMRCs Pure Compound Library, which consists of over 350 drug candidates, has already yielded several novel lead candidates on the pharmaceutical forum, specifically cardiovascular, anti-cancer, and anti-bacterial drug leads. Additionally, the Company is active in developing and expanding its nutraceuticals and dietary supplements program based on the science that has already resulted in several licensing relationships for the pure compounds.

We have always prided ourselves on the science behind our research and development, mentioned Ven Subbiah, Ph.D., PMRCs Founder and President. Whether it involves our extract library, our pure compounds, or our nutraceuticals, we make sure that our development programs adhere to the highest scientific standards. Our science is our credibility.

According to Dr. Subbiah, based on the first half of 2005, this can potentially be a break-out year for the Company. PMRC has already completed 2 deals for a series of the anti-cancer pure compounds, and is in serious discussions with several entities for their nutraceutical products. Given the progress that we have made on our other development programs, we are very excited about this grant opportunity with the USDA because it allows us to mature our agrochemical initiative within the Company. My goal is for PMRC to be a complete development-stage natural product company by being able to successfully participate in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and soon, the agrochemical industries.

PMRC is a development stage biopharmaceutical company that is founded on its proprietary Natural Product Library (NPL). The Company has three internal development programs: (1) one of the most extensive NPLs in the world which consists of plant and microbial extracts mainly unique to PMRC; (2) a Pure Compound Library that consists of over 350 drug candidates that have been initially screened and prepared for further preclinical development in various therapeutic fields such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular; (3) and nutraceuticals for obesity, inflammation, and cancer. The PMRC farms are mainly located in Southeastern United States, as a way to ensure the quality and integrity of the product, while guaranteeing re-supply. www.phytomyco.net.
